A bookseller is only allowed to sell books at the Spui Book Market if he or she complies with a number of terms of which professional skills, quality and trustworthiness are the most important ones. A bookseller has to be enlisted with the Chamber of Commerce.

A fully independent committee decides whether a bookseller is qualified to have a stall at the market.
